Create email accounts and connect a mail app

In the mail section you create mailboxes, set passwords and manage forwards and aliases. Each mailbox can be used via IMAP, sends via SMTP and is also reachable in the browser through Roundcube webmail. An alias simply forwards mail without using storage.

Steps

  1. 1 Click "Mail" on the left, then choose "New mailbox".
  2. 2 Enter the local part of the address, for example info for info@yourdomain.com, and set a secure password.
  3. 3 Save. The mailbox is active immediately and can receive mail.
  4. 4 Set up Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail with the IMAP/SMTP details below, or open webmail at https://yourdomain.com/webmail/.

Set up Thunderbird

Thunderbird
  1. 1 Open Thunderbird, then menu, New Account, Email.
  2. 2 Enter full name, email address and password, then click Next.
  3. 3 Thunderbird is configured automatically via autoconfig.yourdomain.com. Confirm the result.
  4. 4 Outgoing server (SMTP): imap.host-x.de, port 587, security STARTTLS, username full email address.
  5. 5 Click Done and check whether emails arrive.
Start a new email account Open the Thunderbird menu and choose New Account, Email.
Enter login details Enter full name, email address and mailbox password.
Finish setup Check the Thunderbird configuration, confirm it and test the mailbox.

Set up Outlook (Windows)

Outlook
  1. 1 Open Outlook, then File, Add account.
  2. 2 Enter the email address, open Advanced options, enable manual setup and continue.
  3. 3 Choose IMAP as the account type.
  4. 4 Incoming server: imap.host-x.de, port 993, encryption SSL/TLS.
  5. 5 Outgoing server: imap.host-x.de, port 587, encryption STARTTLS.
  6. 6 Username: full email address, enter the password, test the connection and finish.
Add an Outlook account Open Outlook and start adding a new email account.
Enter email address Enter the email address and prepare manual setup.
Configure mail servers Enter IMAP and SMTP servers with the correct ports and encryption.

Set up Apple Mail / iPhone

Apple Mail
  1. 1 iPhone: Settings, Mail, Accounts, Add Account, Other, Add Mail Account.
  2. 2 Mac: Mail, menu, Add Account, Other Mail Account.
  3. 3 Enter name, email address and password, then tap Next or Sign in.
  4. 4 Choose IMAP. Incoming server: imap.host-x.de, username is the full email address, enter the password.
  5. 5 Outgoing server: imap.host-x.de, enter username and password.
  6. 6 Save the account. Emails will sync automatically.
Set up Apple Mail Open Apple Mail and start adding a new email account.
